Obed, who was born blind without eyes (bilateral anophthalmia), and has cerebral palsy, severe intellectual disabilities, autism, and is non-verbal, decides to help himself to an apple out of the bowl on the table and eats it independently. He has never done ANYTHING like this before! He is completely dependent on others for all of his basic care and needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
So this was a BIG DEAL for him to help himself to the apple, and then figure out how to eat it all by himself.
We adopted Obed when he was 18 months old. He is our youngest child.
